Those In Glass Houses

Guts

I couldn’t go back to sleep. I had to get out of Austin’s grip because I was so afraid that he would wake up to me shaking with fear. I shook the worst thoughts out of my head and began walking to my room. I opened the door softly, seeing Aaron sleeping on his bed. I looked around the dark room, rushing over to him and getting in bed next to him, afraid of Josh being in the room.

“Aaron?” I shook his shoulder softly and he groaned. “Aaron, wake up please.” He turned over, facing me and sighing softly.

“I’m awake. What’s going on Annie? I saw you sleeping and cuddling with Austin and I assumed everything is okay.” He smiled a bit.

“Josh texted me.” I blurted out before he can continue talking. Aaron sat up and stared at me in record time and took my phone from my hands.

“How did he get your number? Why did you open the text?” His voice rose a bit.

“I don’t know and the number was blocked, Aaron! How was I supposed to know that it was him who texted me!” I began yelling back and he stood up.

“Alright, fine. He couldn’t have been in the room since you need a key card and they only have three and we have all of them. So let’s just relax and get some sleep okay?” Aaron spoke, relaxed. I took deep breaths, relaxing and nodding. I got off his bed and hugged him goodnight. I walked back to the living room, seeing Austin still sleeping and I carefully laid next to him. He moved a bit, pulling me closer and kissing my forehead.

“You okay?” He whispered, yawning.

“Perfect now.” I answered, a smile spreading on my face, beginning to feel safe in his arms. I closed my eyes, holding on to his shirt and falling asleep.

I woke up the next morning, feeling a bit better but alone on the couch. I sat up, seeing the five guys sitting around the table talking about something when Phil looked at me. “Anne, come here.” He spoke up, the whole table looking at me.

“Come here darling, we just want to talk about this mess.” Austin spoke. I looked over at him and walked over, sitting between Austin and Alan. I looked at Aaron and he smiled at me.

“We’re switching hotels to another one across town. It’s closer to the venue so we’re leaving soon, okay?” Tino spoke up. I nodded, agreeing with them and whatever they had planned.
I began panicking inside, worrying about Josh finding me and going to hurt me again. But I knew the guys and I trusted them more, they’ll protect me.

I smiled a bit, going to the room and changing into a pair of black skinny jeans, an All Time Low ‘Fuck’ shirt I bought and my usual Vans. I began packing my things back into my luggage and walked out to the main, room, dropping my bag off and seeing the guys walking around getting ready.

“Let’s get you to the bus.” Tino spoke, taking my bag. I followed him out the door, going inside the elevator. “So you have no idea where he is right now?” Tino asked.

“Not a clue. But he’s going to keep an eye out on us. I’m scared for you guys.” Tino smiled, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.

“Everything will be fine in the end, don’t worry. Have faith in us.” I nodded, agreeing with him. We walked out the bus, getting on and fixing our bags in the back. Alan walked in after a while and Phil joined in as well. The bus driver turned the engine on as Aaron and Austin walked in and the door was closed and locked.

“Everything good?” Austin asked Phil.

“Tino said everything was locked and nothing was messed up so we’re good.” I sat on the couch with Alan, talking about what movie to watch when my phone rang. Alan looked at it, glaring at the blocked number and he answered.

“What do you want?” He snapped into the phone. I watched as he listened and then give it back to me, the call ended.

“What did he want?” Aaron asked, looking at him.

“Nothing, just laughed and said to enjoy the moment.” Alan spoke through clenched teeth. I took deep breaths, calming myself down and assuring myself that everything was going to be okay. I felt hands grab mine and I almost flinched when I recognized them. I looked at Austin and he was looking at me.

“We’re right here, we won’t leave you. I promise.” He leaned in, kissing me softly before engulfing me in a tight hug.

“I won.” I heard Phil snicker. I turned my head, seeing Aaron take out a twenty and give it to him.”

“You bet on Austin and me?” I asked him, pulling away from Austin.

“We only betted on how long it would take for you two to date and Phil won.” I shook my head, looking at Phil.

“It’s not my fault Austin can’t wait for his fucking divorce.” I looked at Austin and remembered Gielle. They weren’t even divorced yet and here I was kissing him!

“Don’t worry, Marie. She has her boy toy and I don’t want her. I only want you.” I smiled, kissing his cheek and he sat next to me.

“You’re joining us for the sound check, there’s no way we’re leaving you alone on the bus. During merch time, Sarah is going to keep a close eye on you and there will be extra crew members around to watch you. Austin will leave you there and pick you up okay?” Tino spoke up. I nodded, looking at all the guys and sighed, looking at my hands. I can’t have them get hurt because of me. I have to settle this and end it.
