I walked out into the garden with Matty. He casually wrapped his arm around my shoulders. I smiled as we joined Vic, Abby and Mike by the BBQ. Mike leant in to kiss me and I went from Matty to Mike. He wrapped his arm around me and I leant into him. Mike got out his phone and I peered at it. He tucked it away in his pocket and I frowned. "Do your pockets have zips?" I questioned.
"No," he laughed.
"Give me your phone,"
"I'm fine, Kay'," he said and looked at me seriously.
"If you don't look after it it'll get stolen,"
"Who's going to steal my phone?" Mike joked. I exchanged a look with Matty. Matty nodded and took Abby's phone from her. Vic sighed and handed his over. "You're not having my phone," Mike said flatly.
"Give it to me or you won't have it by this evening," I explained. Mike rolled his eyes but handed it over. I tucked it in with mine.
"How could you steal my phone when it's in my pocket?"
"Easy," I said matter of factly.
"Shit," Matty muttered.
"What?" Abby asked.
"Wow, who invited them?" Vic breathed. I looked over and groaned loudly. I saw Dave walking over but he wasn't alone. He had two of my school friends with him. H and Mitch. I thought Mitch was still in prison actually. I couldn't believe I was looking at him again.
"Can I start crying yet?" I asked.
"Can I hide?" Matty asked seriously.
"Lee Lee!" Dave called. Please, no.
"Lee Lee?" Mike echoed.
"Shut up," I snapped.
"Hi," Matty smiled at them as they joined us.
"Hey guys," I grinned.
"Wow, Dave called us and we were like seriously? We get to see Lee Lee and Matty again," H explained.
"Yeah, cool to see you," I said. Dave went to hug me. I let him and pulled away. Then H did the same. Once we were apart Mitch came forward. I tensed but let him wrap his arms around me. He squeezed he roughly and planted a long kiss on my cheek. I sighed and pulled away. Mitch looked at my face before his eyes went to my chest.
"You look good, Lee," Mitch told me.
"Yeah, she does," Mike added. I looked at him and he rolled his eyes. Mike wrapped his arm around me and forced me into a kiss. I chucked under my breath and Mike glared.
"Guessing you're the groom," Mitch said tightly.
"You'd be right,"
"How do you know Kayleigh?" Vic interrupted.
"We were at high school together," H explained. "Before Mitch had to do a stretch in prison,"
"It was us, Lee Lee, Matty and Tara," Dave added.
"Could Tara not make it?" Abby asked politely.
"She got stabbed. She doesn't leave her house much now," Mitch said easily.
"Oh God," Vic muttered. "Did they catch the guy who did it?" he asked seriously and Matty laughed.
"Why do you think Mitch went to jail," I said dryly.
"Seriously," Mike muttered.
"I wasn't guilty," Mitch defended.
"What was the verdict?" I teased.
"She was a bitch anyway," Dave shrugged.
"I didn't catch your names?" Vic said.
"Oh, I'm H," he waved.
"And Mitch," he added.
"This is my fiancée, Mike," I said and saw Mitch tense. Grow up, Mitch! "And his brother, Vic. And my friend Abby," I added.
"Oh, from Pierce the Veil right?" H asked.
"Yeah, you know us?" Vic nodded.
"I thought I recognised you. I just thought Lee Lee was going for your doubles," Dave laughed.
"She has a history of doing that," Mitch smirked.
"Leave it," Matty warned.
"What do you mean?" Mike asked.
"In high school she had a major thing for Green Day. I mean who didn't, they're Green Day. But she wanted Billie Joe Armstrong so bad. She finally got him for a night, but that's a different story," Mitch said.
"Shut up," I spat.
"You slept with Billie Joe?" Mike asked weakly.
"No," I muttered.
"Liar. You got him good. He sighed your groin," Dave said.
"It was ages ago. Before Mitch even got charged," I tried.
"That's so fucked up," Mike breathed.
"You never told me," Abby pouted.
"Were you going anywhere with that story?" Vic laughed.
"Don't," Matty snapped.
"Stop," I growled.
"That's how I got Lee. I went for the whole Billie Joe thing for a few weeks," Mitch explained.
"You dated?" Mike asked seriously.
"Only for a little bit," I replied.
"You dated on and off up until Mitch went to prison," Dave laughed.
"I thought she liked Matty for a bit. I nearly beat him bad. But he fucked that cheerleader chick," Mitch said.
"Who is now my wife and who I loved and still love very much," Matty added.
"Whatever," Mitch shrugged.
"I didn't realise Kay' had a long term boyfriend back home," Mike said.
"We could tell you so many stories about her," H grinned.
"Excuse me?" I said. I took Mike's hand. I dragged him away and over to the drinks table. I passed him a bottle and he took it silently. "You okay?" I asked seriously.
"Why didn't you tell me your ex was a convict?" he asked flatly.
"I didn't think it was important," I muttered.
"After my ex nearly split us up you didn't think it would be important to tell me that this guy just got out and still likes you,"
"I didn't know he was out," I tried.
"I don't want anything to fuck us up, babe,"
"Nothing will," I promised and kissed his lips.
"I don't like them," he told me.
"I used to run with some bad people. So did a lot of people. But it's different now," I said, wrapping my arms around his neck. "I have you now," I added.
"Hmm. . . " he said.
"Please, deal with it for tonight. Then we only have tomorrow and we're back in SD for a week. After we go on our coast tour. We don't have to think about my old friends," I said. Mike nodded slowly. I kissed his neck gently. Mike tilted his head back. I started to kiss rougher and he moaned quietly.
"Don't try to seduce me," Mike said playfully.
"You're cute," I told him. "Mitch might have the knife, but I prefer sticks and a tour bus," I grinned.
"Good," Mike replied and kissed my lips again.
