The Pasts
The Friend
The girl I was sitting opposite looked so fragile. Her hair was hanging in her face and she looked like she was holding in tears. I took her hand and she looked up. When I saw her eyes I noticed something familiar. I bit my lip as I looked at her. "You don't recognise me?" she asked quietly. I frowned at her. I did, I just don't know from where. "Picture me happy with black hair and every facial piercing you could get,"
"Tara?" I asked weakly. She looked at me seriously and nodded.
"Hi Kay'," Tara muttered.
"Oh God," I gasped. "Come here," I ordered. I put my arms out for her and she went forward. I hugged her tightly and she squashed her cheek against mine.
"You look different too," she told me as we pulled away.
"Not really," I shrugged.
"The blonde is gone. You look more grown up and you look happy,"
"I am happy," I nodded. "But how're you?"
"I'm dealing. It's rough, you know. I don't like going out much,"
"Are you working?"
"I am now," she nodded. "I moved cities last month. Think I need a fresh start," she laughed nervously.
"That's great," I grinned. "You should get things back on track after all this time. I've got away, and it's the best thing I could have done,"
"I know," Tara nodded. "My sister said you're engaged. Is it true?" she asked. I think she was excited.
"Yeah," I laughed. "He proposed to me at main stage at Warped last summer,"
"Main stage!" she gasped.
"Yeah. I couldn't believe it, we'd just had this huge argument as well. But we're getting married straight after this tour," I explained.
"Big wedding?"
"Of course," I laughed. "We know far too many people,"
"It'll be great,"
"You should give me your number then I'll send you an invite,"
"Really? I can come?"
"Yes!" I exclaimed. "You stalked Billy Joe with me!"
"We followed them back to their hotel," Tara giggled.
"And we broke into their bus,"
"Oh yes! We hid under the seats until he took a liking to you,"
"Shhh!" I laughed loudly.
"Remember Matty's face when you walked out without your bra on. He was so horrified!"
"We don't talk about it anymore," I smirked.
"You still see him?" Tara asked curiously.
"Yeah, he's walking me down the aisle,"
"That's so cute," she smiled.
"The wedding is in San Diego. I'm living out there now,"
"Really?"
"And don't worry, none of the others are coming,"
"Good," she muttered.
"I had the absolute pleasure of seeing them when I went to Moms's not long ago," I said dryly.
"Oh the pleasure," she mocked.
"Not just H and Dave. But Mitch too,"
"Ugh,"
"Bastard," I muttered.
"I'd rather not talk about him. Please say your standards are better," she begged.
"Much better," I smiled.
"So, who's the groom?"
"He is-" I started but stopped. Mike was walking towards us. I looked at him and smiled widely. "He is here," I explained. Tara looked around and saw Mike. He stopped behind my chair and leant down to kiss me. I kissed his lips longly. When we pulled away he stood behind me, playing with my hair.
"Hi," Mike smiled.
"You could have said he's in Pierce the Veil!" Tara exclaimed.
"Sorry," I laughed.
"Mike, this is my friend from high school, Tara. Tara, this is my future husband, Mike," I introduced them.
"Nice to meet you," Mike nodded.
"You too," she smiled. "You have definitely raised your standards,"
"I like a drummer," I teased.
"And I like a counsellor," Mike joked.
"When are you going on?" I asked.
"An hour," he shrugged.
"You need to hook Tara up with backstage stuff,"
"Okay," he laughed.
"Really?" Tara asked.
"Yes! You were there when I punched Adam Matthews in the face,"
"God! I remember that," Tara laughed.
"Which one was Adam?" Mike questioned.
"The one with the table,"
"And you witnessed this?" Mike asked Tara.
"I helped her up onto the table," she smirked.
"I was so close to her. Tara, Matty and I were like superheroes,"
"Bad ones too," Tara added.
"Hey, you finished?" Mike asked me.
"Fifteen minutes," I replied.
"Come find me. I want a kiss before I go on stage," he teased.
"Will do," I smiled. He bent down to kiss me once more then walked away.
"You're so cute together," Tara told me.
"I know," I sighed, fingering my engagement ring.
"Tara?" I asked weakly. She looked at me seriously and nodded.

It stands for Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. My weight hasn't dropped to Anoriexia yet.
I'm still gutted though! Music is one of the only things that keeps me going and I couldn't be there for it. I heard about Jesse leaving :( x
