There were bottles set out on the table and glasses on a chair. I reached for one reluctantly and all the boys and techs watched me. I could hear the music beating and strange bodies were grabbing one another. “Do you drink?” Vic asked.
“No, not really” I called over the noise.
“Maybe you shouldn’t go too far,” Tony said.
“Leave her alone,” Mike said.
“Here,” Casey said and passed me a glass of brown liquid. I took it and started to drink. I felt it burn my throat but someone forced it on me. I looked and saw Mike grinning. He got a bottle from the table and refilled my glass. I took it and drank deeply again.
“I feel like I’m going to regret drinking with all of you,” I told them.
“The first time I did I fell asleep in a hot tub,” Tony explained.
“He was fine,” Jaime shrugged. I saw Casey lean over to Mike and Mike laughed. He shook his head and looked at me and back to Casey.
“What?” I asked.
“I’m not doing that to her,” Mike told Casey. “He wants me to buy you a shot,”
“Go on,” I tried.
“He wants me to get you the Three Wise Men shot,”
“So?” I asked and they all exchanged a look.
“That shot is the worst thing you could do to a person. Ever,”
“Does it get you drunk?” I asked.
“Oh, yes,” Casey laughed.
“How about if someone does it with me? So it’s not like I’m the only one having it,”
“No,” Mike said flatly.
“Pussy,” Vic teased.
“Please,” I tried.
"Not happening,"
"Do it for me. For Ryan," I begged.
"Fine!" Mike exclaimed. “I am so fucked,” he sighed. Mike stood up and walked round to me. He drained his glass and I finished mine. He led me over to the bar and I sat up on the stool. He tapped some coins on the surface of the bar before he called the man behind over.
“Two Wise Men shots,” he said
“Sure,” the man said and started to pour them.
“You’re serious about this? Even though you don’t normally drink,” he said.
“Ryan wanted this,” I reminded him. “But please don’t let me die. Look after me,”
“If you promise to look after me,” Mike said and smiled.
“Deal,”
“Here,” the man said and took Mike’s money.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Yeah,” I nodded. He passed me one and picked up his. Then I brought it to my lips. Mike poured back his and I did the same. I winced at the taste and swallowed hard. I pulled a face and Mike did the same. I leant against him and smiled a little.

I tripped up the steps to the bus and fell down. I rubbed my face where it had made contact with the floor and groaned. I heard laughter from behind me and turned to glare. “Here,” Tony said and helped me up. Tony walked me into the bus and forced me down onto the sofa. I blinked up at him as the other boys tumbled into the bus. Mike collapsed next to me and wrapped his arm around me.
“Your eyes are crooked,” Vic told me and I started to laugh. Mike got closer to me and I saw him start to lean in. I panicked and backed away a little. Mike continued to lean forward until I put my hands up to block his lips.
“I’m not that drunk!” I exclaimed loudly.
“I need a piss,” Mike slurred and got up. Vic went to get a drink and I decided to get up as well. As I walked over Tony watched me carefully. Out of all of us he was the least drunk. I felt my stomach lurch and I went to the sink. I started to throw up and Tony rubbed my back. When I had stopped I wiped my mouth then turned around to cling to Tony. I heard him tut and he started to lead me over the bunks. I clumsily climbed up onto the top one and rolled over.
“That isn’t yours,” Tony told me. “It’s Jaime’s,”
“I don’t care,” I groaned. “Jaime isn’t here,”
“I know he isn’t,” Tony frowned. But I felt my stomach lurch again I rolled out of the bunk and onto the floor. I hurried to the bathroom this time and started to throw up into the toilet bowl. I started to cry into it once I had stopped and I turned to hug Tony.
“Mike was going to kiss me,” I told him.
“Yeah,” Tony replied and helped me up. “You need to get changed and go to bed,”
“Why didn’t I let him kiss me? He’s probably a great kisser,”
“Probably. Come on,” he said and led me out of the bathroom and to my bunk.
“I’m such a bitch,” I sighed.
“You’re not. You’re just drunk, which you shouldn’t make a habit of Kay',” Tony said. I fell down onto my bunk and Tony set some clothes in front of me. Before I could leave I pulled my dress over my head. I tried to pull on my shorts but failed when I put both legs through the same hole. I took them out and tried again. Tony looked back into the front lounge then quickly helped me into my shorts and my vest.
“Thank you, Turtle,” I smiled sleepily.
“It’s okay,”
“If you’re a turtle, what am I?”
“Someone that needs to go to sleep before she wakes up with a hangover,”
“You’re one of my best friends,”
“You’re one of mine,” he told me.
“I need to do another thing tomorrow. I want to get the list finished,”
“You will,”
“But then I won’t be able to stay on tour with you and I’d really miss you, and I don’t want to say goodbye,” I explained.
“You’ll still see us,”
“My life at home is boring. I want to stay here forever,”
“You have your job,” he reminded me.
“I work in a shop. I hate my job. My counseling degree is stupid,”
“Maybe you’ll find something else before you go home,” Tony tried.
“I hope so,” I smiled and got under the covers.
“Go to sleep,” he told me and I rolled over.
“Thanks,” I muttered and Tony got up to walk away.
