#9 Dye My Hair Purple For a Day

“This is the only one I think is completely stupid,” Jaime told me. I rolled my eyes and used a rat tail comb to scratch my head, that was covered in twenty hour hour purple dye.
“Stupid?” Mike laughed. “It’s fucking ridiculous,” he said. I glared and him and he laughed.
“I’m sorry, please raise your hand if you got through high school without having blonde liberty spikes?” I asked and raised my hand. Vic, Jaime and Tony did the same and I smiled smugly.
“Whatever,” Mike muttered. “Mine was a natural colour,”
“Because so many Mexicans have blonde hair,” I laughed.
“You never know,” Vic shrugged.
“I doubt it,” Tony added.
“I can’t imagine you guys in high school. You all seem so sorted now,” I said.
“Thats because we have a bus,” Jaime nodded seriously.
“I mean it. What were you like?”
“I got all the ladies,” Jaime sighed.
“This dude did magic and yo-yo’s,” Vic grinned and pointed to Jaime.
“I did. I obviously didn't get laid throughout all my high school career,"
“Magic and yo-yo’s?” I echoed.
“Remeber those kids on t.v. for having pointless talents? That was me. Jaime – sponsored yo-yo-er. And don’t get me started on my illusions. They were the shit,” he explained.
“Thats . . . unexpected,” I muttered.
“He was obviously very popular,” Tony joked.
“I’m seeing Turtle as the quiet, sensitive guy,”
“You’d be right,” he laughed.
“Tony, you’d be the guy that everyone secretly wants to hook up with,” I added. "The guy I'd want to hook up with,"
“Okay, that I didn’t get much of,” Tony replied.
“Or any,” Vic coughed.
“What about the Fuentes brothers?” I asked.
“I was a surfer dude. That also used to love heavy metal. Kind of a weird mix,” Vic explained.
“Bad haircut?” I enquired.
“Very bad,”
“As bad as Mr Libery Spikes?”
“Worse,” Mike grinned.
“Okay, I’m seeing piercings, a skateboard and you and Vic listening to Pantera,” I tried.
“Good shot. How’d you get the Pantera?” Mike asked.
“You were screaming their lyrics at me before you threw a book at my face,”
“Oh, yeah,” he grinned. “And you missed out the fights,”
“Fights? You rebel,”
“He was always in fights. That’s what I remember the most from high school. When I graduated I was always getting calls to come a pick him up,” Vic said.
“There were a lot of assholes in my school,” Mike shrugged. “Anyway, what about you?”
“What about me?” I asked.
“What were you like?” Tony said.
“Me? I was the girl with the blonde highlights. . .”
“Cheerleader?” Mike asked.
“God no. I used to have a nose ring, a million band shirts and I once broke a guys nose for calling Matty a soulless ginger,” I explained.
“Impressive,” Jaime nodded.
“So you were the girl I would have either lusted after or been beat up by in high school?” Mike asked and I grinned.
“How tall was this guy you beat up? Like Vic’s height?” Tony asked.
“No, taller than Mike actually,”
“How?” Vic asked.
“I stood on a table. You should ask Matty, he enjoys telling the story,”
“Oh, it’s time to wash off the dye,” Tony reminded me.
“Thanks,” I smiled. I got up and went to the bathroom. I shut the door and took off my shirt. Then I wrapped myself in a towel. The water switched on and I tried to wash the muck off of my hair. “What’s in this stuff?” I muttered as I tried to break the hair dye helmet. “Fuck!” I spat as freezing water ran down my neck. I heard someone laugh and the door opened.
“Want some help?” Mike asked.
“If you’re offering,”
“I’m an expert remember? No Mexican is blonde,”
“What do I do?” I asked.
“Bend over,” he ordered.
“Excuse me?”
“Over the shower,”
“Mike,”
“So we don’t flood the bathroom,” he explained.
“Oh,” I muttered and bent over. Mike came behind me and pushed my head down. Then he turned the heat up on the water and held it to my head. His fingers started to massage my head and I watched purple rain run into the shower.
“Done,” Mike said and turned the water off. I slowly stood up and he wrapped the towel around my hair. “Whoops,” Mike smiled lightly and passed me another towel to cover myself.
“Thanks,” I muttered. “How do I look?”
“Like a parrot has climbed onto your head and died,” he replied warmly.
