Princess of Texting
Chapter Six
Everybody was staring at me when I said that word out. Austin looked surprised, Cory looked shocked. Mike and Ellinore just stared at me.
"Hi Princess" she said again and I teared up.
"Hi mom" I said and covered my mouth.
"How are my little girl?" she asked, and i started to walk out from the kitchen.
"I’m just fine, thank you for asking" I said and tried not to sob.
"Oh love, don’t cry" she said and I could hear her smiling.
"God, I wasn’t prepared for this at all" I said.
She was awake. Again. Just a few days after she last woke up. I heard her giggle a little. That lovely little laugh she had.
"I just wanted to talk to my little baby girl while I had the chance" she said and I could hear that she teared up herself.
"Mom, I’ve missed you" I sobbed, and she let out a sob as well.
"I’m sorry I can’t be there for you" she cried.
"Mom, don’t think like that… You have no reason to think like that" I said.
"And I’m sorry I didn’t step in earlier, when he began being… violent" she cried.
"Mom stop, it’s not your fault… It’s not your fault at all" I cried.
"But that man will never touch you again, I know that" she said.
"I know, he’s in prison… And I have Cory and my foster brothers to protect me" I sobbed.
"Carol told me about Cory and his family, do you enjoy it?" she asked. And I told her about the farm, about Gandalf and all the kids. She smiled, I could hear that, and she was happy for me.
"Princess, I want you to know… I want you to know that I am so proud of you" she whispered.
"I know mom, Carol told me you said that" I said and rubbed my eyes, trying to get the tears away.
"The doctors told me that I’m getting better, so maybe one day I might be able to go and see you" she said.
"I would love that… You can stay on the bus with me and Cory for a while" I said and laughed a little.
"I don’t think the bus life if my kind of life, but thank you for the offer" she said and laughed as well. We talked for a while where I told her about my life, and what I did. She was really impressed and said again that she was so proud of me. I smiled and couldn’t help but to feel sad on the inside. I knew that she meant it but it felt so unreal for some reason. It warmed and made me sad at the same time.
"Princess, I’m sorry… But I have to go, the doctors are going to make some tests on me" she said.
"I love you mom" I said.
"And I love you" she said and we said our goodbyes.
I wiped my eyes again and took a deep breath. For almost 11 years I had never heard her voice. Not even once and today… Today she called me. When I got out to the others everybody got quite. They looked at me.
"You okay lil’sis?" Mike asked, and broke the silence.
"I’m okay" I said and nodded.
"Was it Aly?" Cory asked, and I smiled. I nodded slowly.
"It was Aly" I said.
"You sure you’re okay then?" Mike asked.
"I’m more then fine" I said and let out a small giggle, feeling good. Cory smiled.
"I can see that" he said. The others stared at me, not sure what to say.
"It’s been over 10 years since I last spoke to her… It’s a little bit weird" I said.

Austin’s POV
I think we all got really shocked when she said those words. Over ten years. Had her mother been in a coma for so long? Wow. Essie was really strong, if I had to admit it. Yet all I could see was sadness in her eyes right now. She might shine and look happy, but her eyes. They weren’t purple but a simple grey right now. Sad, grey eyes.
I was lying in my bed. The others was sleeping and I just looked up in the ceiling. Thinking about my mom, thinking about Essie and her mom… And just thinking. Then my phone buzzed and I picked it up.

Charming, are you up?
From: Charming
Yeah, but it’s pretty late so I might fall asleep on you
From: Princess Lavender
Then why aren’t you sleeping?

A lot of thoughts today, that’s all.

I friend of mine talked to someone she’s haven’t spoken to in a long time, and seeing her so happy and sad at the same time just made me think about my own mother. Because it was her mother she spoke to today.

Scary, that is exactly the reason why I wanted to talk to you today… Today I got to talk to someone I haven’t talked to in a very long time, and I’m just filled with all these thoughts and feelings.

Wow, that is scary.

I just stared at her text. Her name was really Princess Lavender. And here I thought it was all just a joke. It was… Weird. Princess Lavender. Who name their children that way? Like seriously? Who?

A few days later we were finally back on the road. On our way to Dallas. I felt refreshed and new after being home for a few days. Cory seemed refreshed as well and he was singing for himself while driving the bus.
"Hey Cory, can you make a stop at the next gas station? I need to buy something to eat" I said.
"Yeah sure, anything special you’re after?" he asked.
"Just some new tea, maybe some iced tea and something for you" I said and winked at him.
"Thank God, because I would really like some chocolate right now" he said.
"Oh, someone having their period?" I teased."
"Very funny Essie, very funny" he muttered. I laughed a little and sat down on the couch.

Your Majesty, where can I find you?
I almost chocked a little on his question. Why the sudden eager to know my location?
From: Princess Lavender
You can find me in Texas, why?
From: Austin
Texas? I’m there right now. If you’re close by what do you say about meeting up?

Dallas, and you?

I looked at the text and thought about it. Should I meet him? What if he wasn’t the 25 year old Austin. Who had a failed marriage and…. fuck that sounded familiar in some way.

Is it okay for me to call you?
I didn’t even have a chance to answer back because suddenly my whole phone lit up and his name was all over the screen. Should I answer?
"Austin?" I asked when I answered.
"Shit, you got a brighter voice then I imagined" he said. Something in the back of my head just thought that it was something odd going on. I recognized this voice. Cory stopped the bus and I got out from the bus.
"My voice is much brighter then you thought?" I asked.
Of Mice and Men was apparently here as well. I could see Alan and Phil in the store.
"Yeah, I always thought it would be… I don’t know, darker" he said.
I picked up some tea, ice tea and some snacks for Cory. Alan and Phil stood in front of me and they had chips, Nutella and salty breadsticks. They payed for their things, greeted me and then they got back to their bus. I payed for my things and then I heard something in the background.
"So what are you doing?" he asked.
"HEY AUSTIN, WE BROUGHT CHIPS, NUTELLA AND SALTY BREADSTICKS" someone yelled in the background. I almost dropped my phone because suddenly everything was clear. Charming, Austin… was no other than Austin Carlile. Fuck. Shit… What do I do?
"Austin, I don’t think this is a good idea" I said and my heart was racing.
"Why not?" he asked.
"I just… No" I said and hung up. He tried to call back but I refused to answer.

Austin’s POV
Was she scared of me? that I might not be who I said I was?

Sorry Austin, I don’t think it’s a good thing we meet up

I stared at her text. I’ve already met her?

But she didn’t answer. I got no answer at all.
