“Okay.”

He wasn’t long he was telling the truth on that but he had only one bag with him when he came back. It was small and black. I was curious as to what was in the bag but I didn’t get to know because my hair was done and Austin looked so happy with it.

“You look stunning, angel.”

“Thank you.”

Austin handed his card over and paid for it. He twined his hand with mine as he left the hairdresser. I really wanted to ask what was in the bag but I daren’t. He pulled me towards a taxi and we went home quickly.

“What’s in the bag?” I finally asked as we opened the door to his home. I frowned as I noticed all of the guys in the living room and Phil’s girlfriend too. “What’s going on, Austin?”

“You’re going to think I’m crazy and I know I am but we just feel so right together and I know you know it too, Taylor.”

“Austin…” I was worried about where this was going. He reached into the bag and pulled out a small red box. He dropped to one knee and opened it. My eyes widened as I put my hand over my mouth. He smiled almost shyly as I looked at the ring. It was simple and elegant. A round diamond on a simple band.

“You’ve got be crazy.”

“I love you, Taylor. So much and I know I need to be with you. You’re my world and I want us to be together. I know it seems like we’re going way too fast but you’re my everything. So please will you do the honour and marry me?”

“What?” I shook my head with my mouth open as he looked hopefully up at me. I loved Austin. I really did but I was only eighteen. What would my parents say? What would everyone say? I was thinking about everyone else before I was even thinking about me.

I looked around the room and everyone was smiling at me. Alan looked a little too happy and I frowned at him. He nodded his head at me and I turned to look back at Austin. His smile was slowly dropping and I felt bad for keeping him in suspense.

“Okay.”

“Really?”

“Really.” He grinned and slid the diamond ring onto my finger. It fit perfectly. He stood and kissed me so passionately I thought I was going to combust right there in the living room.

“I fucking love you.”

“I love you too.” I noticed the video camera was in Alan’s hands and I took it away from him with an shy smile. He let me take the camera and I trained it in on Austin. “What do you have to say, Mr Carlile?”

“Well, I love you and I cannot wait for you to be Mrs Carlile.”

“Me neither.” I kissed him and he held the camera above us. I leant up on my tiptoes and whispered into his ear. “Let’s no publicise this.”

“Why not?”

“I just don’t want people thinking that I’m in this for your money.” I twined my fingers with his, the diamond ring glinting in the light.

“I want everyone to know that I want to be with you forever.”

“Forever is an awfully long time.” I squeaked as Phil grabbed me around the waist and spun me around. Which was feat for such a skinny guy.

“Taylor, I want you to meet my Izzie. She’s my girlfriend.” I smiled at her and surveyed her. She was short and had pixy like hair. With dark green eyes she was very beautiful and I could see why Phil was attracted to her.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She wrapped me in her arms and I smiled. It was actually nice to have a girl around the place. It was getting frustrating not talking to a female figure.

“You too. I hear you’ve been with Phil for four years?” I saw Austin and Phil wander away as I sat on the bottom step or the stairs. Izzie sat next to me with a smile. She smoothed her dress over her knees and sighed quietly.

“Austin’s been with you for just under a month and you’re already engaged.”

“Have you tried dropping hints around him?”

“Yes. I’ve even bought wedding magazines but he just doesn’t take notice. Maybe he doesn’t want to get married.” Izzie started picking at a sequin of the frill of her dress and I put my hand over hers in comfort.

“Maybe he is worried that isn’t what you want and doesn’t want to make a prat of himself.”

“Maybe…” Izzie trailed off as Austin wandered back up to us. He held his hand out in front of me with a grin.

“What are you thinking, Mr?”

“Let’s dance.”

“You know I can’t dance.”

“Please?” Austin knelt on the floor in front of me and put his chin on my knees. I stroked his hair as Phil held his hand out to Izzie who took it as they started dancing around the living room. They were made for each other that was for sure.

“One dance.” I said as he pulled me up. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I duplicated. We gently swayed in the living room as he hummed the song to me.

“Are you still sure about tonight?”

“Yes. I just need some time to get ready.”

“Of course, angel. I’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready. Where would you like to do it?”

“I…I don’t know.” I buried my face in his chest and breathed in the scent that was unique to Austin.

“Well, I’ll be waiting in bed for you. Just take your time, darling.”

“Sure.” I closed my eyes as he swayed us again. My mind was full of mess and I needed to be alone to be able to work through it. I kissed his chest gently before stepping back from him with a smile.

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I just need some alone time. I won’t be long.”

“Just call if you need me.” Austin said and kissed me. I kissed him back because I needed it. I tasted him briefly before stepping back from him again. I left the house and onto the patio. It was cool out here and I slid my shoes off and dangled my feet in the pool.

Everything was going so fast and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do about it. So I done the only thing I could do.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Mum.”

“Taylor! How is everything going?”

“It’s great. Going way too fast though.” I said as I looked down at the diamond ring on my ring finger with a frown.

“What’s happening? Tell me, dear.”

“He proposed to me.”

“That’s amazing. Did you say yes?” I could hear the glee in my mother’s voice and I smiled. I’d finally found someone who wanted me and I wasn’t sure why I was questioning it but it just didn’t seem right to me.

“Yeah but it just seems so fast.”

“Do you love him?”

“With everything inside me.” I kicked my feet gently in the pool and watched as the beach ball wobbled along the water.

“Then that is all you need to worry about. Love isn’t easy, Tay. You’ll have some bumps in the road but at the end of it you will be with the one you love and that is all that matters.”

“I love you, Mum.”

“I love you, Taylor.”

We hung the phone up and I bit my lip as I surveyed the pool. Without thinking too long I stripped from my clothes except my underwear and jumped into the pool. I screamed because it was cold as fuck. The patio doors slammed open and Austin stood before me.

“You almost gave me a heart attack.”

“S…Sorry.” My teeth chattered even as I grinned. “Aren’t you going to join me?”

“You’re crazy!” Austin was laughing even as he stripped from his own clothes and jump in the pool. I saw everyone else come out and look at us. “Join us?”

“Oh yeah! Pool party!” Alan yelled and jumped in the pool along with us. Then it was Tino, Aaron and Izzie after Phil had helped her from her dress. Then finally Phil cannonballed into the pool. Austin swam up to me and pulled be closer to him.

“You’re so beautiful.” He whispered in my ear and I just smiled back at him. If he wanted to compliment me then that was good enough for me. I traced his arrow tattoo and grinned up at him.

“Am I tall enough to ride?”

“Honey, you can ride all you want.” Austin ran his hand down my back and his hand finally settled on my arse. I grinned and wrapped my arms around his neck.

“Deep breath.” I whispered before I proceeded to dunk his head under the cool water and quickly swim away as he resurfaced spluttering.

“You’re so dead!

“Try it, old man!”

“I’m six years older!” He was laughing as he swam after me. I made a squealing noise and hid behind Alan. Austin stopped with a wicked grin and took a deep breath before heading under the water. I could on see the black of his boxer shorts in the water so I jumped from the pool and onto the edge before wrapping a towel around me.

Austin’s head popped up out of the water with a grin on his face. He rested his head on my thighs and I returned his grin. He turned his head and kissed one of the freshly healed scars. I ran my fingernails through his hair and he made a groaning sound.

“Not in public, angel.”

I grinned even further and scraped my fingernails through his hair again and he sighed against my thigh. A puff of hot air against my upper thigh. It made me clench deep inside as he looked up at me with almost black eyes.

We turned away from each other when Alan started yelling. He was screaming and throwing his hands around his head. I laughed and noticed everyone else was pissing themselves.
“What’s wrong, Alan?” I asked once I caught my breath.

“Bee.” He squeaked and looked around the pool for the offending bug. He swam to the edge of the pool and jumped out before taking a towel and sitting on it. “That is why I don’t use our pool.”

“It’s only a bee.” Austin reasoned as he too got out of the pool. He took my towel from me and wrapped both of us in it. Phil, Izzie, Aaron and Tino didn’t take long to follow and soon we were all lounging on the patio in the evening sun.

“So when are you guys going to tie the knot then?” Tino asked as he reclined on one of the deck chairs on the patio.

“Whenever Taylor wants to.” Austin said and kissed the top of my head. They all turned to look at me and I just shrugged. I had to get used to be engaged to Austin before even thinking about becoming his wife.

“Not yet.” I shook my head and kissed my forehead with a smile. I stood and held my hand out to him and he stood with a smile at me.

“Ready to go to bed?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
