July 7, 2012 - Tinley Park, Illinois

I stepped out into the bright sunshine and started making my way towards the venue. I knew Austin had gone to the AP tent to do a signing and my iPod was in his pocket. The crowds were insane and I couldn’t help but yawn and push my hair out of my face as I tried to get through all the people.
Hoping no one would stop me to talk. I spotted Austin not too far off just making it to the tent, Adam behind him and I quickened my pace.

“Rae, Rae, Rae, Rae!” Jack was sitting at a table between Levi Benton and Beau Bokan.

“Hey,” I said smiling and stopping in front of the table.

“Give me a hug, asshole.” Jack said standing and leaning over the table pulling me into a hug. “I haven’t seen you in like three days.”

“I saw you last night!”

“Well not only do I not remember that…you haven’t been sleeping in your bed, missy.” He sent a smirk in Austin’s direction who wasn’t paying us any attention.

“You tried to lick my face last night while you rubbed your nipples.” I said with a laugh changing the subject.

He burst out laughing, “I don’t even know what to say to that!”

“Raegan! What are you doing here?” I looked over to see Austin smiling from the other table twenty feet away.

“You took my iPod!” I explained making my way over to him.

“I did!” He laughed reaching into his pocket and pulling the purple device out. “Sorry!”

“It’s okay I just needed it to listen to while I got ready. What time is set?”

“Uh, I think it’s right after All Time Low’s.” Austin said as the fans started coming into the tent one by one.

“Okay! See you then!” I said kissing his cheek and walking back over to Jack but making sure to be behind the table and not mixed in with the fans. “Jack, what time is set?”

“Ask Alex, I don’t fucking know.”

“Oh, you are useless!” I said with a smile before making my way out of the back of the tent and heading back towards the buses to get ready.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

“Don’t take my fucking shirt off, don’t take my shoes off…This one’s called Second & Sebring!”

The crowd erupted into screams as the song began.

“I believe it’s time for me, to be famous and out of place
I believe it’s time for me, to move forward, when I break through
When I break through, when I break through, when I break through…”

Austin had dived into the crowd and they carried him towards the sound board in the middle. I had the crowd singing along to every word as Austin happily threw his hands up. This was one of my favorite parts of performing with them, the way the crowd and Austin interacted when we played this song. From the stage I could see that he had made it to the sound board and was now standing on a barricade above everyone amping them up more. He was shirtless, which meant someone had ripped his shirt off. Security pulled him into the tent as we started getting off the stage. I made a mad dash out trying to get out to the tent to make sure he was okay. He hadn’t been feeling great before going on stage in the first place.

The tent was shaking when I arrived and the kids were chanting his name. Security let me in and I found Austin sitting on the ground near a fan talking to a member of the crew. Adam was sitting on the ground in front of Austin filming him and snapping pictures.

“You okay?” I asked falling to the ground next to him.

“Yeah! They’re getting security to get me out of here.” He explained.

When the men arrived, we stood and Austin took my hand in his and the beefy men surrounded us leading us through the crowd. As we made it back to the bus area, Austin shook hands with the men who had walked us thanking them. Then he took my hand in his again and headed for the bus guzzling water the whole way.

“They were shaking the tent and screaming my name.” He said finally breaking the silence between us as we neared the buses. “I think that was on the best experiences I’ve ever had. That was insane.”

I smiled up at him feeling nothing but pride. I was so proud of him for everything he had accomplished and the love that his fans had for him and the band. I was so proud to be able to stand next to him and experience things like this with him. I was proud of him for always staying humble and true to himself through everything.

We entered the bus and he headed straight for the showers. I sat on one of the couches as Adam came back.

“Hey, you have to see this!” He said sitting next to me and pulling on of his cameras out. “I filmed the kids chanting his name.”

He pulled up the video and we watched as Austin climbed into the tent, sat down, and the fans began chanting. He had the biggest smile on his face and his breathing became heavy. Feeling a sudden wave of emotion he cupped his hand to his mouth, pulling himself together before throwing his arm in the air giving them all a ‘rock on.’ The footage brought tears to my eyes and when it finished I looked at Adam in wonder.

“You have to show him that. That’s amazing, Adam!” I breathed shaking my head with a laugh.
