Iris’ pov
Austin gave me a hug goodnight, inside I was screaming. The guy I have had a crush on since forever was holding me in his arms. I felt something like I was meant to be there, in his arms but it must of just been my nerves or something. I scurried back in to my room and slid down the back of the door. He was such a nice and down to earth person so much better than the guys back in Manchester. I had a wash and got into bed not bothering to have a shower i’ll have one in the morning before we leave. I was surprised how quickly I fell asleep. *2 months later at Warped Tour in America*
I haven’t spoken to Austin since the awards which kinda sucked because he was all that has been on my mind these past 2 months, well I don’t have his number or anything so there was no way what so ever of getting in touch with him, I don’t even think he was doing Warped this year. I heard a knock on the door, I was in the back room having a star wars marathon with Jack. “Hey Chris. Wanna watch star wars with me and Ree?" Ree has been my nickname since I was a little kid even though it doesn’t sound anything like Iris. “Sorry I can’t bro and neither can you two. We have sound check in 5 minutes." “URGH" Me and Jack groaned in sink with each other. We headed to the front of the bus grabbing a bottle of water to keep hydrated whilst in this scorching heat.
Anyway, today was the first day of tour. It was our first time on Warped and we were playing every date which we were so stoked about. I ran to sound check which was a bad idea in this weather. I saw someone in the corner of my eye, Austin, my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. I was so distracted by him because the next thing I new I was on the floor in agonizing pain. I heard someone running as I slowly started to sit up, it was Austin great. “Whoa! Are you okay Iris?" I plastered on a smile. “I-I’m fine…just a bit of a headache that’s all." I lied, I was in so much pain it was unbelievable! “Do you want me to walk you to sound check?" I heard Austin say. I nodded and he helped me up. The conversation started flowing but by the time I new it I was with the rest of the guys. “Hey, do you wanna maybe…err…exchange numbers or something?" He looked embarrassed as he said it, I couldn’t help but giggle. “Sure." We exchanged numbers and he ran back to his bus. I swear to God I was in this mans presence my mind went crazy.
After sound check I went back to the bus plugged my phone into charge and un-paused the film. My phone vibrated telling me that it was turning on, God I hate iPhone batteries. I unlocked my phone checked my emails and messages. There was one off of someone I don’t have in my contacts, it was Austin.
Austin: Hey babe, it’s Austin. How’s your head? x
A small smile grew on my face.
Iris: Hey. It’s much better now, thank you. :) x
He didn’t text back I gathered he might be in an interview. Half way through the next star wars episode my phone buzzed.
Austin: Sorry I didn’t text back I had an interview then I had to go to sound check. There is a bonfire tonight on the car park wanna come? x
Iris: Hey no problem. Yeah sure, can the guys come? x
Austin: Of course they can. Meet me at my bus at 7? People aren’t coming until about 8 when it starts to go dark but I want to show you something :) x
Iris: Yeah sure, Sounds fun :P x
With that I jumped off of the sofa and ran to my bunk to get some clean clothes. I grabbed some clothes and hurried into the bathroom to get changed and freshen up for our set. I took my time because it wasn’t for another half hour. I walked to the front of the bus and grabbed a bottle of water before heading out the door. The guys were already there so I did a funny walk to get there in time.
*After Bulletproof and Of Mice & Men’s set*
I hurried back to the bus to spray some perfume and change my top as quick as I could. I was ready in minutes. I left the bus not bothering to tell the guys were I was going. I left a bit earlier because I had no idea where the OM&M bus was. I didn’t need to find it though because I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my stomach. He picked me up and spun me around in a circle. “Heeyy" I screeched whilst he was still whirling me around in the air. He put me down. “Hi, come on I need to show you something."
We got into a van and drove out of the venue. Where the hell was this man taking me? We pulled up to the beach, Austin pulled a bag out of the back of the van and ran kicking up sand as he went. He was like a 10 year old. I ran after him even though I new I would be tired afterwards I am so unfit. I ran onto the beach but I couldn’t seem him anywhere. “Over here Iris" I turned around and there he was lighting a bonfire. I strolled over to him and plonked myself down onto the blanket that he had placed on the sand. “This is amazing" I said in a cheery tone. “I know right. Now i’m guessing you haven’t had anything to eat since this morning, right? " I nodded my head realizing how hungry I was. “Now, I asked Jack what kind of food you liked and he said you are a vegetarian but you love sushi, am i right? If i’m not then we’re fucked." “Haha, yeah i’m a vegetarian but my weakness is sushi." “Good." He placed a plate of sushi in front of me. “Eat." I did as I was told and wolfed down the sea food. “I don’t think I have ever seen a girl eat sushi that fast in my life" I couldn’t help but giggle. What could I say? My favorite food was in front of me and I was starving. It started to get dark and a bit chilly thank god Austin made the camp fire and brought an extra blanket seen as I didn’t bring a jacket.
We were sat snuggled up together on the beach when I heard him murmur something under his breath. “What was that?" I asked him. “I-I-I like you Iris..I-I like you a lot. Ever since I saw you across that crowded room…I don’t know…I just…from the moment I met you I knew you were going to be something important to me even though we have only met like twice." I smiled and gave him a peck on the cheek. I didn’t say anything, I didn’t know what to say. I’ve only just met Austin, I don’t want to start dating him because he doesn’t know my whole story and after I tell him I know for a fact he won’t be sticking around.
We decided to leave the beach and head back to the venue to meet everyone. We got there a little later than planned and everyone was completely wasted. I sat down as Austin fetched us a beer. I knew these next couple of months were going to be amazing.
Austin’s pov.
Today has been the first day in a long time that I haven’t thought about Gielle and that’s all because of Iris. She was amazing but I couldn’t help but think there was something else, like, she had a secret to tell, a secret so deep that she keeps it bottled up, a secret she has never told anyone, a secret I don’t think Jack knows. I know how to spot fake smiles so it wasn’t hard to see past Iris’, behind that amazing smile of hers were a thousand tears waiting to be shed. One day I will get it out of her, that big secret of hers.
Everyone decided to call it a night which actually meant ‘the bonfires boring so lets hit some clubs and bars.’ I thought I should go out and celebrate the beginning of Warped Tour but I decided to stay in, I wasn’t really in the mood to get absolutely wasted. I text Iris to see if she was going out, she wasn’t but she did want some company. I grabbed a few beers and headed to her bus. I walked in and there was no sign of her so I went into the back room, there she was with her star wars pajamas on and a star wars blanket covering her WHILST watching star wars, she might even be a bigger fan than me, whoa slow down Austin I don’t think that’s possible. I walked in and sat next to her, she snuggled up into my chest and slowly drifted off to sleep. A few minutes later my eyes were also starting to shut so I turned off the TV and covered us both with the blanket and drifted off to a deep sleep.
