Austin’s pov
"Alan, get your ginger ass down here now! We are going to be late." I quickly shouted to Alan upstairs perfecting his hair. “Coming Slender." Alan said in high pitched girlie voice. God I hate it when he calls me that. “Finally" Trying to sound happy. “It takes time to look this good you know Austin!" Alan kept a serious face whilst I just burst out laughing. “Get in the car Ashby." It was the night of the Kerrang Awards in the UK, I am usually really hyped up to go but this year I really wasn’t.
"What’s up?" Asked Alan with a concerned tone to his voice. “Nothing." He gave me that look, he new there was something wrong. His stares were starting to feel intimidating now, I couldn’t handle it. “It’s…It’s just…well, Gielle has got in touch recently and she wants to meet up so that she can apologise.." I said my words trembling just by mentioning her name. “WHAT?!" Alan pulled over. “Please don’t say you are going to meet her?" “I don’t know…I haven’t really thought about it" I spoke in a whisper. “BULLSHIT!! You have been acting like this all week. Of course you have been thinking about it." I turned my head to the side and just looked out of the window. “If you see her and accept her apology think about what you are getting yourself into. Remember last time? When you took her back? You trusted her and what did she do?" "…cheated on me…" “Yeah she cheated on you again. I am only trying to be a good friend Austin, I could see how heartbroken you were last time." I didn’t say another word, tears were threatening to fall down my cheeks any minute. She was the love of my life and it hurts to think of what she did to me. Alan kinda gathered I didn’t want to talk anymore so he pulled out into the road and carried on driving towards the venue. He parked a couple of streets away so that the fans wouldn’t attack the car or find away in or something. Before getting out the car I caught a glimpse of myself in the wing mirror. Did she really make me this upset? I jumped out the car and faked a smile not wanting anyone to see me like this.
I loved meeting the fans especially the ones in the UK. We barely see them so its nice to say hello. One girl saw past my fake smile and asked me what was wrong I just told her that a fan had told me about how I saved her from hurting herself. The girl bought it and asked for my signature and a quick picture which I was willing to do. I walked into the venue with Alan looking around when my eyes were drawn to a girl who I had never seen before. I tried to get the mysterious girl out of my head but I couldn’t. I got called over to do an interview which I was happy about because it might take my mind of things. But then the mysterious girl walked past and the interviewer, Craig I think he was called, I am really bad with names, called her over and asked if she wanted to join. She said yes and walked over to me and Craig.
Interviewer: Here we have Austin Carlile from Of Mice & Men. The band are up for ‘Best International New Comer.’ We also have Iris Taylor from Bulletproof. Bulletproof are up for ‘Best British New Comer.
Iris what a mysterious name for a mysterious girl.
Interviewer: So Iris, how is the Kerrang Awards for you? It’s your first time right?
Iris: It’s really cool. Yeah it’s are first time here we were kind of nervous coming because we didn’t think we would actually speak to anyone because we didn’t know any bands in the industry yet but we were kindly greeted by the You Me At Six guys and the Bring Me The Horizon guys.
She had the cutest accent, it sounded like she was from the outskirts of Manchester or somewhere near there.
Interviewer: You’re a really big fan of Bring Me The Horizon and You Me At Six aren’t you? How was it meeting the people that are basically your idols?
Iris: I was completely starstruck by it all. I had to hold my breath for a bit because I thought I was going to jump into their arms or something so I had to calm down before I did something stupid.
I was in such a daze that I didn’t realise Craig trying to get my attention.
Me: Sorry dude, I must have been day dreaming or something
Interviewer: No problem Austin. Your band have been nominated for the ‘Best International New Comer’, how do you feel about it all?
I really couldn’t be bothered answering these questions right now.
Me: It’s absolutely amazing. Starting off as a small band a couple of years ago and now being nominated as ‘Best International New Comer’ is just amazing.
Interviewer: How are you liking the UK?
Me: We are so stoked to be back in England, we lo-
Before I could finish my sentence Craig announced that he had to get a few more bands in which I was happy about because I got to leave and finally get a drink.
I walked straight to the bar to get one of the free cocktails seen as I didn’t get one when I walked through the door. I saw Alan at the back talking to Jenna McDougall from tonight alive, he has always had a crush on that girl.
I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder it was very soft but felt very masculine at the same time. I quickly turned around and it was Danny Worsnop. He was so shit faced even though he was nursing a hangover. “Heeeeeeeey Austiiiiin" Danny screeched happily. “Hey man how are you?" I scoffed to myself, this is the man to be around when you’re in a shit mood. “I’m good thanks bud, nursing a hangover though. Ben told me to nurse a hangover you need to drink more alcohol. It kind of worked, my head doesn’t hurt as much anymore!" Danny quickly but slowly slurred out. “God Danny you are so gullible at times." “Only when i’m drunk Austin."
We talked for a while before I dragged Danny over to where the seating plane was to see where Asking Alexandria were sitting. I checked where I was sitting so I didn’t have to take two trips. As I found OM&M there was another band next to it, we were sharing which I was fine with but it was who we were sharing with. We were sharing with Bulletproof. Why did that girl have to be so damn attractive? I hauled Danny onto my back banging him into things and other people on the way to his table. “Heeeeeey guuuuys, were have you been all night?" Danny projected out even though the were either sat next to him or opposite him. “Never mind where we’ve been, where have you been? You look like you have been dragged through a bush backwards mate. What the fucked happened to you man?" Ben couldn’t stop laughing at the sight of Danny, I have to admit it was pretty funny. “You told me more alcohol would help my hangover, it worked at first but it hurts even more now" Danny spoke whilst wincing in pain. “That’s why you should never take Ben’s advice, you should know that by now Daniel" James said sarcastically. I spoke to the guys a little longer trying to put off going to the table I was supposed to be at. I couldn’t avoid her forever though, could I? No, no, I couldn’t! Man up Austin!!.
I got up and headed towards the table. I said hi to the guys and Iris. “Where’s the rest of your band?" I said to Iris not really bothering with wanting an answer. “They’ve just gone to the bathroom, they’ll be back in a minute." she said with a smile I wouldn’t help but think it was a fake smile though, like she lied before, she didn’t want to be here just as much as me. The rest of the band got back. I felt like I should introduce myself and the rest of the band but they beat me to it. One guy spoke up “This is Iris as you already know" She lifted up her glass and gave us a quick smile. “That’s Jake with the shaggy brown hair. Over there is Chris covered head to toe in tattoos. This is Sam…who looks like he has passed out." “I told you to only let him have that one cocktail, you know what he is like Jack" Iris spoke with a serious yet motherly tone to it. “I’m sorry, he was enjoying himself. I wasn’t just going to stop his fun….I’m jack by the way as you may have gathered, i’m Iris’ brother." We said hi and shook everyone’s hand. I introduced the guys. “At the far end is Tino with the awesome beard. Next to Tino is Aaron who is rad on vocals. Next to Aaron is Phil the one with luscious hair-" “hey, I have the luscious hair thank you very much" Alan protested. “And that’s Alan who ALSO has luscious hair. And I am Austin" Once we had all been introduced we started to chat, turned out they are really nice.
As the awards finished both bands Of Mice & Men and Bulletproof both coming away with an award hopped into a taxi and headed back to the hotel. All the guys from OM&M and Bulletproof literally ran to their rooms to freshen up seen as they were going out to a few bars and clubs. Me and Iris were pretty tired so we were going to stay in tonight, jet lags a bitch. “Hey" said a sweet voice as I was about to walk into my room. I turned round quickly to see who it was, it was Iris. "…if you want we could…errr….go for…a…errr..drink down at the bar if you want to? Only if you want to, I understand if you want to get some sleep" Her voice was so pure. I was tired and I could curl up onto the floor and fall asleep right then but I couldn’t say no to her beautiful face. “Id love to" I flashed her a toothy grin.
We strolled down to the bar which was empty seen as the hotel was rented out for the guests at the awards and literally everyone had gone out or had gone straight to sleep. “What do you want i’m paying" “What do you mean you’re paying? We get free drinks here" she giggled as she talked which just made me like her even more. Wait what? like her? I have only just strung a damn sentence together. No Austin get a grip, you don’t know her. I thought ‘why not get to know each other now then.’ That is exactly what we did, we had a couple of whiskeys whilst playing pool, I like to think I went easy on her but we both know i got my assed kicked even though I was trying my hardest. We decided to call it a night so I walked her back to her hotel room and gave her a hug goodnight.
Was this night a dream? She was perfect, her cute little northern accent, her little giggle, her personality, her music was amazing too. Was i really falling for someone I had only just met?
